Save your spot in Term 2 2025!

Term 2 begins straight after school holidays on April 30th, and runs until June 18th. Those who wish to perform may be invited to rehearsals after class for about 30 more minutes.

Every Wednesday 7-8pm for eight weeks, we will explore social dance and design a simple choreography together, according to what feels good for everyone. All levels welcome. No experience necessary - everyone works at their own pace and level for as long as they like.

No special outfit needed, just dress comfortably with bare feet or socks. I’ll have hip scarves for you to borrow. Enjoy our beautiful studio in downtown New Plymouth and shake away the stress of the day!

Cost is $120 for the term, see my class policies on the Questions page:

“Been joining her class for almost 5 years now. Juniper is an amazing teacher! She knows what she’s teaching, brings all the history into dance techniques. She is humble, patient and professional. Really recommend her to everyone!”

Juliana

"I'm so lucky to find the amazing teacher to learn dancing again. The energy and the vibe and especially the fun environment to learn. The group of ladies are awesome too so that make different. Thank you ❤"

Lyly

"I really thank you for the effort you took in the Social Connection Workshop. Totally loved it and Sharon was really pleased she joined in too. Your teaching style is so interactive and superbly organised!"

Classes = community!

Many come to class because it’s a great way to meet people! I started teaching in 2019, shortly after moving to New Plymouth from California. We maintain a chat channel for get togethers outside of class, for those interested.

My Wednesday nights are for girls and women due to cultural sensitivity reasons. (To be clear, that includes trans women and girls!) I prioritize accessibility for Arab women so they are not excluded from their own art form.

Sign up for my newsletter at the bottom of any page to stay in the loop as I announce additional classes and workshops open to all.

I will happily consider accommodating students who contact me with their specific requests. I’d love to teach you!

From the ground up

Beginners are very welcome in my classes. My strategy is to teach technique and body alignment before attempting choreography, because the moves work differently for each individual. Advanced students are given more options.

Feet and posture first, then the knees and hips, then upper body and arms. Finally, we put it all together and add our own flair. It’s like a layer cake, the foundation comes before the icing!

Performance is optional, absolutely no pressure - join our body positive, diverse and supportive community.

Want more privacy?

I offer private lessons to individuals and groups, customized to your needs. “Hen parties,” team building, holiday one-offs, and more!

This can also be great way to start building confidence if you’re unsure about group classes, or to deep dive into special topics if you’re already experienced in the style.

I’ve helped design choreographies for soloists, taught private groups in my studio or in their own space, and introduced a mom and daughter to their first few moves before committing to a whole term.
